NEW QUARRY

Company from Alcobaça acquired a quarry and expects to create 10 new jobs in the next two years. Planned investment is around 2.5 million euros.

Topázio Branco acquired a quarry in Mendiga (Porto de Mós). The limestone block extraction company, based in Alcobaça, has been working in Fátima since 2008, and is now increasing its production capacity and the range of materials available for sale.

With an estimated investment of 2.5 million euros (purchase of the quarry and acquisition of machinery and production equipment), the new unit responds to the growing demand for Portuguese stone from China, the Middle East and others. Hélder Horta, CEO of Topázio Branco, predicts that 10 jobs will be created in the next two years.

“This is a big step for Topázio Branco, but it is also the realization of a personal and professional dream”, reveals the administrator, explaining that the introduction of a new material – known as Moca Creme – also intends to diversify the countries to where the company exports. Currently, around 95% of Topázio Branco's stone is destined for the foreign market, either directly or indirectly.

Topázio Branco currently has 15 employees. Recently, it was recognized with the PME Líder and PME Excelência statutes, which attest to the company's work, dedication and credibility.
